Bank Negara Reduces OPR To 3.25 Percent

nampaknya bank negara dah cut rate given the risk of recession....negara2 lain cam uk, japan, spore sume dah enter into recession kan..

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Bank Negara Malaysia, at its Monetary and Policy Committee (MPC) meeting Monday, decided to reduce the overnight policy rate (OPR) to 3.25 percent from 3.50 percent.

The ceiling and floor rates of the corridor for the OPR are correspondingly reduced to 3.50 percent and 3.00 percent respectively, the central bank said in a statement.

Since the previous MPC meeting, the outlook for global growth has deteriorated further, Bank Negara said.

Several major advanced economies are now in recession amid severe stress in their respective financial systems, it said.

OPR ni sebenarnya stands for overnight prime rate..

kalau bank buat investment utk satu hari, that will be the indicative rate they are getting..

OPR ni digunakan sbg benchmark utk rate2 yg lain termasukla BLR (Base Lending Rate) dan interest rate swap..

sepatutnya rate utk buat loan lagi rendahlah

tapi kalau dah nak enter into recession selalunya bank pulak tak nak bagi loan sebarangan...yela credit risk kan
